Networked Unionism: Reframing the Labour Movement and Starbucks Workers United’s Hybrid Organising Practices

 Union organising is surging in the United States, especially among younger workers service industries. This article examines this uptick labour through a case study of Starbucks Workers (SBWU). I studied campaign from March to December 2022 using variety online and offline methods: conducting twenty-three in-depth interviews with SBWU organisers; attending strikes, direct actions, planning meetings; following these groups on social media. addresses two main questions: How are organisers communicating unionisation their co-workers broader publics? And, how media influencing workers’ practices? Despite claims that “a great radicalier”, demonstrates were politicised by material conditions an industrialising workplace. While helped amplify messages recruit new members, relationships central SBWU’s early growth. By detailing navigated contradictions within networked media, shows worker-led campaigns like reshaping structure composition US movement.
